Ancient Maths Meets Modern Tech

One unique feature of Milestone Maths from Level D is our “Real World Application” lessons. These lessons appear at the end of every milestone and they are a rather eclectic bunch.

In some cases we give kids ideas for hands on activities they can do around the home that show the maths they’ve just learned in a milestone. They often get them thinking “like a grown up” and having a go at something their parents take for granted, and therefore might forget to teach. And then there’s the “blue sky” lessons that show how the simple foundational skils they are learning are directly related some very high tech (and often unexpected) applications.

This week, as we gear up for the launch of Level D, we’re sharing a sneak peak at some of these real world application lessons and we’re very excited to announce that the first lesson fits in the last (and we believe most exciting) category!

Have you ever wondered what happens when a computer makes a mistake? Did you even realise that’s possible? This lesson will help you understand it all, and show how very important the humble operation of addition is to literally all the computing and communications that exist today.

Here’s the free lesson. Yep, totally free. You don’t even have to sign up for our newsletter. (But we’d be super happy if you would scroll to the bottom of the page and do sign up so we can let you know you when even more exciting freebies have been released!)
