I’m Kathy Gonzalez, the Aussie homeschool mum behind Milestone Maths—a PhD in Computer Engineering with over 30 years of teaching and tutoring under my belt. From tutoring my high school peers in 1988 to lecturing 1,000 university students, to sitting one-on-one with a four-year-old, I’ve spent decades breaking down tricky mathematical concepts into bites kids (and parents!) can digest. For the past 15 years, I’ve poured that experience into homeschooling my three boys and tutoring part-time, specialising in special needs literacy and numeracy.

Homeschooling is my in my veins. I guided my two eldest from birth to graduation. One’s now at uni studying Electrical Engineering, the other at TAFE training as an electrician. My youngest, turning 7, inspired Milestone Maths. He’s thriving on Level C, and his curiosity shapes every lesson I write. Beyond my own kids, I tutor both homeschooled and mainstream students, and I’ve helped plenty of homeschool mums navigate registration or teaching their kids to read. I still keep an eye on the latest maths and reading research: there’s always something new to learn.

The Real Me
I live on a rural property in Queensland’s Burnett Region with my husband and our three boys. I’m a perfectionist (call it OCD) about everything except housework. I love baking bread, quiet family time outdoors, curling up with a book, and dreaming up ways to make maths click. Milestone Maths is my passion—blending rigorous know-how with hands-on fun for Aussie families like yours.
