Did you know, numbers can do way more than just count? Some numbers even have names and crazy stories to tell! Over the next few months we’ll be meeting some seriously surprising numbers but today we’ll just take a sneak peak at some of them.
- Dozen (12) and it’s cousin the Baker’s Dozen (13): Ever wonder why eggs come in dozens? And what do bakers and the number 13 have to do with dozens anyway?

- Gross (144): How did 144 get to be so, well, gross? And what’s so special about the number 144 anyway? You’ll find a clue on your times table!
- Zero: It means nothing, but it’s a hero. Maths as we know it wouldn’t exist without it!
- Hundred (100): Now let this blow your mind. Hundred does not actually mean the number 100. It actually means “the count of 100!”

- Googol (10^100): A kid made this up—it’s so big, it’s a secret even grown-ups can’t count!
- Pi: Now that number sounds good enough to eat (you pronounce it the same as cherry pie). It’s a super important (and very old) number that science can’t live without.

Which secrets are you itching to unlock? Stick around—these number mysteries and more will be revealed in the months to come!
