Teach Your Child to Read Time!

Heads up! There’s a freebie at the end of this post.

Reading time on an analog clock (the type with hands) is a skill that can be very useful but many kids seem to miss out on. The reason is that it’s a skill that takes lots of practice to master. But as far as maths instruction is concerned, time telling is a rather insignificant aside so it never gets a lot of real estate in a maths program.

So, the absolute easiest way to teach your child to read time on an analog clock is to have one somewhere in the house and ask them to go and read the time often! As a homeschooler, this is the sort of learning you want to be doing everyday. Right?

But, to get your kiddos started on their time telling quest, they’ll probably need a bit of an introduction to the analog clock and how it works. We’re here to help with a snippet from one of our Level C books on telling the time. It gives you (and your kids) all the information and practice you need to get started teaching (and learning) time telling like a pro!

We’d love to have you as part of our community! If you find this freebie useful, please consider signing up to our newsletter and be the first to know about future resources.

The freebie is located just below the newsletter sign-up form.
